> But really, I’m just coming off a Dungeon Crawler Carl kick and like this writing style right now.

Okay, but which one?

Great article! Definitely relatable and gave me some new things to consider in my template for starting projects.

I'm on the Gate of the Feral Gods right now! It's a wild series, I started out thinking it was cheesy but ended up loving it. I'm a huge fan of the approach with `uv` that you show - have you investigated pixi? It's everything I love about uv with support for conda channels

I have been missing out- I mistook this for a generic genre of games and didn’t realize it was a book. I’m going to have to check it out!

Yes! I have checked out pixi and I do like it, but I haven’t integrated it deeply enough that I feel ready to add it to my template. Most of the time I am still able to get things added via uv alone with the occasional tool coming from uv tools. I really like what pixi is doing, though.

It would be fun to do a deeper dive into the other tooling up and down the stack. For me that’s things like direnv/mise, pixi, cargo, and podman/docker.

Absolutely. And with ever-growing abundance of software, if I can't run your stuff out of the box in 10minutes, I'm moving on to 2nd and 3rd options. And then later I also want to configure it as my usecase grows.
